Ensembles
With over 300 student singers, Westlake Choir is one of the largest organizations on campus! Our choirs are made up of students from all grade levels and levels of choral experience. If you are interested in singing, there is a choral ensemble for you at Westlake Choir!
SENIOR VARSITY MIXED CHORALE
The Senior Varsity Mixed Chorale is made up predominately of students in their senior year at Westlake High School. As they continue to advance their vocal technique and sight-reading skills, members of the Chorale perform advanced choral literature of varied musical styles and periods. Chorale students perform in the Fall and Winter Concerts as well as the annual choir musical and Spring Revue. In recent years, Westlake High School Chorale students have traveled to and performed in New York City. The Chorale has consistently received sweepstakes at UIL Contest and Sight-reading Contest.
CHAMBER SINGERS
Chamber Singers is an auditioned group of singers who perform challenging choral music as well as song and dance numbers. This choir meets daily to rehearse a repertoire of pieces with only a few students per voice part. In May 2012, Chamber Singers were invited to perform with Austin's Women's Chorus, The Tapestry Singers. Chamber Singers frequently perform throughout the community and at private events.
MADRIGALS
Similar to Chamber Singers, Madrigals is an auditioned group of mixed singers who meet daily to prepare both challenging choral pieces and song and dance numbers. The Westlake Madrigals have been named a "Choir of Distinction" at the American Classics Madrigal and Chamber Choir Festival. In December 2012, they were invited to perform with Bob Schneider. Madrigals frequently perform throughout the community and at private events.
JUNIOR VARSITY MIXED CHORALE
The Junior Varsity Mixed Chorale is made up primarily of students enrolled in their junior year at Westlake. As members of the Junior Varsity Mixed Chorale, students focus on polishing vocal technique and sight-reading skills and perform advanced choral literature of varied musical styles and periods. Junior Varsity students perform in the Fall and Winter Concerts, the choir musical, and Spring Revue. The Junior Varsity Mixed Chorale has traveled with the Senior Varsity Chorale to perform in New York City. The Junior Varsity Mixed Chorale has also consistently received sweepstakes at UIL Contest and Sight-reading Contest.
CONCERT TREBLE
Concert Treble members study and perform more advanced literature. Students explore a variety of musical styles, techniques of vocal production, and refine their music literacy. Concert Treble performs in the Fall Concert, the Winter Concert, the musical, and Spring Revue. Concert Treble Choirs have received consistent sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
CONCERT-TENOR-BASS ENSEMBLE
The Concert Tenor-Bass Ensemble will perform more advanced literature. Students explore a variety of musical styles and refine music reading. Concert Tenor-Bass Ensemble performs in the Fall Concert, the Winter Concert, the musical, and Spring Revue. Concert Tenor-Bass Choirs have received consistent sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
CHAPARRAL TREBLE
Students in the Chaparral Trebles explore and perform a variety of music as well as study techniques of vocal production and music literacy. This ensemble presents several concerts during the year including the Fall Concert, the Winter Concert, the Chaparral Cabaret, and Spring Revue. The Cabaret features small groups and soloists from Chaparral Treble and Chaparral Tenor-Bass. Chaparral Trebles have received consistent sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
CHAPARRAL TENOR-BASS ENSEMBLE
The Chaparral Tenor-Bass Ensemble performs a variety of music as well as explore techniques of vocal production and sight reading. This ensemble will present several concerts during the year including the Fall Concert, the Winter Concert, the Chaparral Cabaret, and Spring Revue. The Cabaret features small groups and soloists from Chaparral Treble and Chaparral Tenor-Bass. Chaparral Tenor-Bass has received consistent sweepstakes at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
